About Us


The Information Technology in Education (ITEd) Student Association is a new student organization in Prince Sultan University. It aims to provide an open forum for members to meet, discuss, and explore topics related to the Information Technology in Education field.

ITEd is open to all students at Prince Sultan University (College for Women), but is focused on students in the Department of Information and Computer Science. The association creates communication between the department, professors, and students. The purpose of ITEd is to facilitate communication and teamwork of people interested in technology by providing education, workshops, competitions, and forums.

What We Do

We will explore topics related to the field of Informtion Technology in Education. Typically, we will have speakers from area schools & companies or faculty members discuss emerging technologies and advice on careers in technology.

We hold open meetings weekly or bi-weekly on Sunday's between 12:15-12:45pm.

Activities assigned to students include but are not limited to:

  • Creating websites for courses taught in the university.
  • Inviting guest speakers from various technology fields.
  • Field trips to educational institutes to benifit and possibly help enhance the technological system of some schools.
  • Survey of local IT training centers.
  • Discussing new and emerging educational software.

Results of student reviews and evaluations will be posted online for the benefit of the general public.

Spring 2004:



  • First Meeting: April 26, 2004 at 12:15pm.

  • Lecture: "Education in th Information Technology Age" presented by Guest Speaker, Dr. Mohammed Zakri. Tuesday, May 4, 2003 at 10:00am in the main auditorium.

Spring 2005:



  • ITEDU  is hosting a lecture for guest speaker Mr.Yasir Barghout from Kalay Technology & Information, a leading software development company in Saudi Arabia mainly responsible for developing Kalaya School Development System a software used by public schools system in Saudi Arabia.

  • ITEDU proudly hosted a lecture for Dr.Yousuf A. M. Al-Oraifi, E-Learning Services Manager, Harf Information Technology. The lecture took place in lab C at PSU/Womens College. Dr.Al-Oraifi discussed the capabilities of 'Tadarus', an educational software developed by Harf IT company, where he was also one of the major developers of this valuable software project. The lecture was a valuable one to both students and faculty. The lecture showed the importance of e-learning and how it can make the learning process be more effecient and of more benefit to both educators and students. Hopefully the members of the ITEDU will be trained on this software and will contribute in the marketing process to promote it to various educational institutes.
